Our Dedicated BOARD OF DIRECTORS:

President Mandy Couturier: Adoptive parent. Mandy is a special educator specializing in working with students with emotional and behavioral challenges and needs at Thatcher Brook Primary School in Waterbury. She is the adoptive parent of two wonderful children and is currently a foster parent as well.

President Shani Varricchione: Adoptive parent. With both children as current enthusiastic Camp For Me campers, Shani became involved in camp in recent years. A resident of Vermont since middle-school, she returned to the area after attending college in Maine. With an academic background in education, Shani currently works as a substitute teacher and spends a large percentage of her time volunteering for school and community related activities, serving as chairperson for Williston Families as Partners (Williston School District’s parent-teacher group). She is a licensed Dale Carnegie Course Trainer and has been fortunate to work with a number of local organizations as they invest in their employees to increase leadership, enhance communication skills, and improve teamwork.

Secretary Catherine Paris: Adoptive parent. Cathy is a faculty member in the Plant Biology Department at the University of Vermont, a position she has held since 1991. She is the mother of two adopted children, both of whom have attended Camp For Me since elementary school. She is a former board member and president of Poker Hill School, Inc., a non-profit preschool and kindergarten in Underhill, and has done volunteer teaching in botany and geology at the Lake Champlain Waldorf School.

Treasurer Bill Drislane: Adoptive parent with wife Liz Thompson of a son who attended camp for five years. Estate and trust attorney with office in Burlington. Also serves on the board of Young Tradition Vermont promoting music and dance for young people. Former board member and past president of HomeShare Vermont.

Board Member Judith Blank: Adoptive parent. Judith is retired from the Vermont Department for Children and Families (DCF). Initially she was a protective services social worker and investigator before becoming an adoption social worker. Prior to retirement, she was the coordinator for DCF’s post adoption services. She has been an avid supporter of Camp For Me since its inception and is a proud parent of an adopted girl from India.

Board Member Joanne Limanek: Adoptive parent. Joanne grew up in South Burlington. After graduating from Georgetown University, she returned to Vermont to become a Registered Nurse working in the Burlington school district. She is the mother of three adopted children, two of whom attended Camp For Me. She has volunteered as a 4H group activity leader, junior high track coach, math tutor, and Rainbows group facilitator. Rainbows is a support program for children who have suffered losses.

Board Member Michael Joyce: Michael is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has worked with foster children and families as well as adoptive children and families (pre/post) for the past twenty years. Michael has presented nationally on the topics of supporting adoptive families and the many unique aspects they bring to Child Welfare. After fourteen years with Casey Family Services, Michael is now in private practice in Colchester, continuing his focus on supporting foster and adoptive children and families.

Our Valued VOLUNTEERS:

Kevin Downey: Educator. Kevin joined Camp For Me as the seasonal Camp Director in 2011. He has been a teacher in academic and experiential education for 20 years, working in such diverse places as California, Russia, New Mexico and Maine. He is currently serving as director of the Big Picture Program at South Burlington High School. Former board member of Camp For Me.

Alex Tretiak: Business owner and entrepreneur as well as former Camp For Me board member. For many years Alex has been an inspiration at camp for kids of all ages, volunteering in many capacities but most enthusiastically as the creator of the end-of-week video and music presentations. Alex was instrumental in reaching out to parents and former staff to pull Camp For Me from the ashes following the 2009 closing of Vermont Children’s Aid Society. If not for Alex we wouldn’t be here.
